◙ The Kouass site is located on the right bank of the Gharifa river, about 25 km south of Tangier, and about 7,5 kilometers north of Asilah. Ras Kouass's geographical and topographical position probably explains the reasons for choosing this location in antiquity.

◙ The presence of the Gharifa River, the proximity of a natural harbour, the presence of fertile land and clay quarries have certainly enabled and facilitated human settlement on the Kouass site.

◙ Excavations at the site have uncovered several kilns of pre-Roman potters that produced amphoras and ceramics over a long period from the 6th to the 1st century BC.

◙ In addition to the potter's workshops, Mr. Ponsich recognized a defensive construction that is similar, from the technical point of view of the construction of the pre-Roman buildings of Tamuda and Lixus, to the salt factories dated to the imperial era (1st-2nd century. After J.C.), an aqueduct and a cistern.
